Sexual harm and people with cognitive impairments

Bitesize Thumbnail Sexual Harm And People With Cognitive Impairments

About this Session

In this video training session, Matt from TDI talks about issues of sexual harm involving people with cognitive impairments. We introduce what we mean by 'cognitive impairments' in this context, talk about the line between sexually inappropriate behaviour and sexual abuse, explore the concept of 'behavioural disinhibition', examine some of things which can lie behind disinhibited behaviour and think about how we can respond to it.

This video is accompanied by an exercise, 'Responding to behavioural disinhibition', which is available alongside the video.

This session builds on the TDI Explainer of the same name, which may be a good place to start for those who are coming to this topic completely fresh.
