TDI are often asked for support by organisations working with clients with cognitive impairments (those who used to be described as having 'learning disabilities', or those with diseases such as Alzheimers). These organisations may be working for the first time with a client who has committed sexual offences, or worried about the boundaries between risky client behaviour and sexual offences. Over many years, TDI has developed training for organisations around this issue, applying our expertise in the area of sexual harm prevention along with research and inputs from experts in the field. TDI's biggest programme is our Leisurewatch Scheme, a public protection programme which has been running across Great Britain and Northern Ireland for over 15 years. It works to help those managing public spaces - such as leisure centres, libraries, shopping centres, parks, museums, visitor centres and lighthouses - to think about the risks of sexual offending and how to reduce them in their specific place. The current crisis has been a difficult one for our members. First they had to close down for several months, and now they have to reopen with a set of restrictions. The current crisis means that a lot of us - TDI included - have moved to delivering our services online. However, as several high profile incidents have made clear, this can create new vulnerabilities.
